At last week’s Student Government Association meeting, History Department lecturer, Hollie Marquess, talked about her combined research project, “Though Hell to the Midwest: A Holocaust mapping project.”
This project began two years ago with Amber Nickell, Hollie Marquess & student Sarah Keiss, who shared an interest in both Holocaust survivors and the Midwest. The project includes a website that maps the journeys of Holocaust survivors from their places of birth to their current lives and stories.
They currently have over 40 survivor mapped and their stories.
This research is still ongoing, and after they complete their work in the Kansas City area, they plan to expand to other parts of the Midwest.
