SGA installs new senator, passes four bills

The Student Government Association installed one new member on Thursday morning. Jocelyn Billings formally pledged her responsibilities as a senator for the College of Education.

In New Business, one new resolution was up for first reading.

Resolution No. 25.F.102 states: SGA promotes safety, wellness, inclusion, and equity on the campus of Fort Hays State University and beyond through various strategic initiatives, partnerships, and public support, by supporting the work of local and campus organizations like Jana’s Campaign, Options Domestic & Sexual Violence Service, and the Center for Empowering Victims of Gender-based Violence.

This resolution will be up for a vote next week. 

In Old Business, SGA voted on five bills. 

Bill No.25.F.119 proposes a line item change for Ceramica: Clay Club. This bill passed unanimously.

Bill No.25.F.120 proposes a line item change for Shooting Sports. It was recommended by Treasurer Cade Becker to turn down this bill due to an updated bill coming up. 

This bill failed unanimously.

Bill No.25.F.121 proposes a line item change for American Institute of Graphic Arts. This bill passed unanimously

Bill No.25.F.122 proposes that Paul-Nathann Phouphouet Gougoua be considered an International Senator. This bill passed unanimously.

  • The 5th Annual College Republicans v. Young Dems Debate will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the Cody Commons

SGA will reconvene at 7 p.m. next Thursday.
