SGA installs two new senators

On Thursday, the Student Government Association installed two new members, Kyan Offutt and Brogan Padgett, who formally pledged their responsibilities as senators.

In New Business, five bills were up for first reading.

Bill No.25.F.114 proposes that Jocelyn Billings be considered for a senate seat for the College of Education.

Bill No.25.F.115 proposes Nina Malliton be considered as an At-Large Senator. 

Bill No.25.F.116 proposed an AIGA Line Item Change.

Bill No.25.F.117 proposed a Collegiate Model UN Line Item Change.

Bill No.25.F.118 proposed funding for Phi Alpha Theta for an upcoming trip.

These bills will be up for a vote next week. 

In Old Business, SGA voted on two bills. 

Resolution No. 25.F.101 proposed Brenna Schwien, Harper Lubbers, Wyatt Trombley, and Htet Aung Win be appointed to the Education Opportunity Fund Committee for the 2025-2026 academic year: 

Bill No. 25.F.113 proposed a line item change and new line creation for the Marketing Club. 

One senator asked why the money was being moved from multiple trips to one. Marketing Club President Sydney Dickey explained that there were cancellations of the smaller trips, and they made two bigger trips.

Another senator asked what the members would do on the educational trip. Dickey said that they will meet with five agencies, network with professionals, and they will also make connections to receive internships. 

All bills passed unanimously.

  • Suit Up with JCPenney will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14
  • Jana’s Campaign Wear Purple event in the Union will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, October 16

SGA will reconvene at 7 p.m. next Thursday.
