The Hays Public Library is launching a full slate of summer events for all ages, running from June 2 through August 1. While most activities will take place at the library, attendees can check the monthly calendar for a complete schedule and event locations.

The summer fun kicks off with a Reading Challenge Launch Party on Monday. The day begins with five interactive art stations from 9:00 a.m. to noon, giving participants a chance to explore their creativity. At 1 p.m., attendees can enjoy an interactive movie experience, followed by a youth painting session at 3:00 p.m., limited to the first 50 participants.

Later in the day, adults can take part in the “Bookish T-Shirts and Totes” event from 4-6:30 p.m.—a hands-on arts and crafts session where participants can create custom t-shirts or totes that celebrate their love of reading.

The days following the kickoff are packed with activities for all ages. On Tuesday, children ages 0 to pre-K are invited to “Sleepy Storytime” from 10-10:30 a.m. This weekly summer event is designed to ease little ones into their day with a gentle story. Children are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal or blanket for added comfort.

Also on Tuesday, children entering kindergarten through second grade can attend “Readiness and Review” from 1-2:00 p.m. in the Children’s Storytime Room. This session helps young learners maintain and strengthen academic skills during the summer. Space is limited to 14 students, so early registration is encouraged. To sign up, visit the Hays Public Library website, navigate to the calendar, and click on the event for registration details.

TMN will have further coverage of Hays Public Library events throughout the summer.
