The Kansas Zeta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon officially opened its new Greek house, moving into the residence on 7th Street on May 1. The new house is just a short distance from campus. Although members received the keys in mid-April, they waited until the start of May to make the transition.

“It doesn’t change who we are,” Chapter President Reed McNett said. “I’ve told the guys that we have created history and moments that have lasted a lifetime from the way we recruited without a house. Don’t change how we do something because we have something — don’t change what you are as SigEps.”
The chapter is already planning a number of events to take place at the new house, including an Alumni House Event on October 9. All chapter ceremonies will also take place there going forward. Members are also organizing a haunted house tour for Halloween.
When asked why the chapter pursued a house,
McNett said the chapter didn’t initially think they needed a house, but through hard work they were able to secure their new residence.
“I just told the guys that if we worked hard this semester, we might be able to make it happen. So we did,” he said. “I met with the bank along with our finance chair, shared our vision, and they loved it. We ended up agreeing on terms that worked well for both sides.”
