FHSU Online Student Government Association (OSGA) met Monday to reflect on the past school year and elect leadership for next year.

Public Relations Officer Eileen Moore commended the group on the work completed this year.

“I feel like we have really broken through,” Moore said. “We have a seat at the table and are being heard. So that is a huge win.”

Moore encouraged senators to brainstorm new ways to engage with the online community.

“Let’s come up with some ideas of how we can pivot and reduce or eliminate the isolation that online students historically express,” Moore said.

OSGA President Heather Flick noted that the current faculty advisor, Nikki Heitmann, is stepping down at the end of the year. In her place will be a group of three advisors: Vice President for Student Affairs Joey Linn, Assistant Professor Matthew Clay and Professor Elodie Jones.

“It’s gonna be a great year as we progress forward, and I look forward to working with all of you,” Linn said.

Jones echoed that sentiment.

“I’m excited about three different people with three different perspectives, working with you to advocate for online education,” Jones said.

Flick opened the floor for nominations for executive positions before creating a voting form with the nominees. The following individuals were elected:

President – Eileen Moore
Vice President – Jonathan Ornelas
Public Relations Officer – Adriane Anderson-Pullum
Secretary – Tavia Foley

Flick thanked the group for a wonderful year.

“It felt like a roller coaster ride for most of it, but it’s been full of learning and I appreciate each and every one of you guys have been amazing,” Flick said.

OSGA will meet again starting in the Fall.
