On Thursday, the Student Government Association discussed budget allocations. This session focused on reviewing and redistributing funds to various student organizations and initiatives for the upcoming year.

With the passing of Resolution No. 24.2.100., Tiger Fitness Center, Public Safety, Educational Opportunity Fund, Student Engagement, and Civic Engagement will not be adjusted.

Several organizations were approved for student fee increases, including Athletic Bands, 99 cents; Tiger Media Network, 25 cents; Parking, 40 cents; Tiger Debs, 10 cents; Memorial Union, 99 cents; Health and Wellness, 99 cents; Food and Hunger, 10 cents; Intramurals, 8 cents; Student Government Association, 10 cents; and Athletics, $2.00.

During the discussion of the Athletics fee, a motion to increase the student fee to $4 failed. A motion to increase it to $3 also failed.

A motion by Sen. Marcell Dely to table further discussion of Athletics’ fee to next week also failed.

“There are senators that would like to change it as well,” he said, explaining additional senators who were not present at the meeting would like to see the fee increase.

The motion received a second for deliberation but failed the vote to be tabled until next week’s meeting.

Since Athletics’s proposed increase is over 99 cents, it will need to go to a student body vote for approval. The date of the vote will be determined at a later time. Currently, Athletics is funded at $9.97 per credit hour. The increase would put the fee at $11.97 per credit hour for FHSU students.
