Albright sets meet record at Washburn Invite

The Fort Hays State University Track and Field teams saw their first action of the indoor season at three different meets this weekend (Dec. 6-7). The trip was highlighted by NCAA Division II provisional marks, a meet record, and numerous top-five finishes.

Washburn Invitational
Hayden Albright had a remarkable showing, claiming first place in the 400m dash with a provisional time of 47.93, which also set a new meet record. Albright added another impressive finish in the 200m dash, placing fourth with a provisional time of 21.39. Jacob Clark excelled in the men’s pole vault, securing first place with a clearance of 17-2.75, meeting the provisional standard.
The men’s distance squad also delivered strong performances. Kaiden Esfeld took fourth in the mile with a time of 4:26.89, while Emery Wolfe claimed fourth in the 1,000m run at 2:36.92.
On the women’s side, Annabeth Baalmann led the charge in the pole vault, finishing second with a clearance of 12-11.50, meeting the NCAA provisional standard. Reba Mader earned second in the 400m dash, clocking 58.36, while Ashlyn Harbaugh placed second in the 5,000m run with a time of 18:08.28.

Boo Rodgers Combined Events
The men’s heptathlon featured a standout performance from Ethan Salmans, who placed fifth with 5,056 points, earning a provisional mark. Salmans excelled in the 60m dash (6.99) and 60m hurdles (8.27), finishing second in both events. Nolan Churchman was close behind, finishing sixth with 4,989 points and achieving a provisional mark with strong performances in the high jump (6-4.50) and long jump (23-2.00).

Crimson & Gold Invitational
Emily Diercks placed second in the women’s 5,000m run with a time of 17:14.41, narrowly missing a provisional mark. On the men’s side, Jaret Pfizenmaierfinished third in the 5,000m, clocking 14:37.26.

The Tigers now turn their attention to their next meet, the UNK Pre-Holiday Classic, scheduled for Friday, December 13 in Kearney, Nebraska.
