Men’s golf 14th at Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. – Fort Hays State Men’s Golf placed 14th at the Washburn Invitational, held at the Topeka Country Club. The Tigers opened with a 302 and followed with back-to-back rounds of 297 as a team for a three-round total of 896.

Jackson Rader was the team’s top individual performer, finishing in a tie for 26th with a total score of +7. Rader’s steady play featured rounds of 75, 72, and 73, highlighted by his second-round 1-over-par performance on the par-71 course. Over the tournament, Rader notched seven birdies.

Cooper Scheck was next on the leaderboard for the Tigers, tying for 37th at 9-over par. Scheck carded rounds of 74, 75, and 73. He also had seven birdies for the tournament, including three in the final round to offset five bogeys. Jordan McCaslin had an impressive birdie count for the tournament, leading the team with 11 birdies overall. He opened with back-to-back rounds of 3-over par (74) and was 7-over par (78) in his final round.

Ashton Dowell, playing as an individual, and Parker Krob both tied for 61st with totals of 228. Dowell bounced back from a tough opening round of 81 to close with scores of 73 and 74, while Krob shot 79, 76, and 73. Each recorded five birdies during the tournament. Cole Streck shot 82, then back-to-back rounds of 79 to place 82nd.

Missouri Western won the event at 1-over par as a team. The Griffons were led by Aiden Asby, who captured the individual title with a 6-under-par performance. Central Oklahoma was two strokes back at 3-over and Concordia-St. Paul was nine stroke back in third at 10-over.

The Tigers return to action next week at the Tulsa Cup (Oct. 28-29) to wrap up the fall portion of their schedule.
