EDMOND, Okla. – The Fort Hays State women’s golf team placed 23rd at the Grace Shin Regional Preview, held this week (Oct. 7-8) at KickingBird Golf Course, a par-70, 5,905-yard layout.
The Tigers turned in a team score of 322 in round one, sitting in 22nd place, before shaving seven shots off that score with a second-round total of 315 for a tournament total of 637.
Avery Blasi led the team with a two-round total of 12-over 152, finishing in a tie for 59th out of 120 competitors. The freshman posted a 9-over 79 in the first round before firing a round of 3-over 73 on Tuesday.
Madison Kerr finished in a tie for 91st, firing rounds of 81 and 78 to finish at 19-over 159. Kiley Maier was one shot behind her teammate, placing t-96th at 20-over 160. Maier led the team with a 6-over 76 on Monday before posting an 84 in round two. She led the team with three birdies on the week.
Abbie Norris turned in rounds of 87 and 80 to place 112th, while Hayden York finished 115th after posting scores of 86 and 88.
Central Missouri took the team title with a two-round total of 13-over 573. Paige Hoffman of Northwest Missouri State captured the individual championship at 2-under after firing rounds of 68 and 70.
The Tigers will be back in action next week (Oct. 14-15) when they travel to Terradyne Country Club in Andover, Kan. for the Newman Invitational.
