ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Fort Hays State Tennis played at Henderson State on Sunday morning (April 21). The Tigers fell 4-1 to the Reddies as Grace Unruh generated the lone team point for the Tigers with a singles match win. Henderson State moved to 13-8 overall, while FHSU moved to 6-13 overall.
The Reddies took two doubles matches for their first point, winning 6-0 at the No. 1 position over Shreethika Vangala and Fiorella Mendez and 6-2 at the No. 2 position over Irina Alfonso and Ines Latorre. The No. 3 team of Unruh and Yone Pereiro were up 4-3, but their match was stopped when the Reddies claimed the team point in doubles action. Henderson State’s No. 1 doubles team is ranked No. 34 nationally.
All singles matches that finished were decided in straight sets. Unruh won her No. 6 match 6-4, 6-2. Mendez nearly forced a tiebreaker set, but Henderson State claimed the match when their No. 5 player won 6-1, 7-5. The Reddies also completed wins at the No. 1 position over Vangala 6-1, 6-1, and at the No. 4 position over Latorre 6-2, 6-1. Alfonso (No. 2) and Pereiro (No. 3) did not finish their matches since the team result had been decided. Both matches were in the second set.
Fort Hays State will close out its regular season next weekend with MIAA matches at Northwest Missouri State (April 26) and Washburn (April 27). Both matches are set for 11 a.m.

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Fort Hays State Tennis fell 5-2 at Ouachita Baptist on Saturday afternoon (April 20). OBU swept doubles matches for the first team point of the match, then took four of six singles matches to improve to 7-14 overall. FHSU moved to 6-12 overall for the season.
