The Sternberg Geoscience Club is excited to announce our spring event, “What’s in Your Soil?”. This event was created to bring awareness to over-fertilization and potential pollution. This event has two guest speakers to share and spread awareness about soil, fertilization, over-fertilization risks, and other related topics. We will also be giving out free soil testing kits to attendees (while supplies last)! This event is held Monday, April 22nd at Fort Hays State University Memorial Union, Hays Ks, 2nd Floor, Stouffer Lounge, at 5:30 p.m.
“We are really excited about this event and are hoping for a great turnout,” said Valerie Scott, club president.
This is a great opportunity to learn a little more about soil and fertilization from local experts Dr. Iryna McDonald from the FHSU Agriculture Department, Assistant Professor of Agronomy and Jay Harris, District Director and Horticulture Agent from the K-State Research extension, Cottonwood district. This event is open and free to the public/community and FHSU students alike, so please stop in to collect your free-soil testing kit and learn about what is in your soil! If you have any questions, please email the Sternberg Geoscience Club at fhsugeorocks@gmail.com or the club president at vcscott@mail.fhsu.edu.
