BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Fort Hays State men’s golf team finished in eighth place out of 18 teams Tuesday (March 26) at the NSIC Conference Preview Invitational hosted in Blue Springs, Mo. The tournament was played at the Adams Pointe Golf Club which totaled 6,890 yards and was a par-72 course.
The Tigers finished 31-over par with a total of 607 strokes. Fort Hays State tied for the fourth best round two score, going +12.
The Tigers were led by Jackson Rader who finished tied for 12th shooting just 2-over par during the tournament. He ended up tying for fourth in round two, going 1-under par while shooting six birdies during the round. Rader shot rounds of 75 and 71 and tied for the most birdies with nine while also notching an eagle. Cooper Schecktied for 32nd with his teammate Parker Krob, going 8- over par in his two rounds. Scheck finished with three birdies and 23 pars. Krob turned in a pair of 4-over par scorecards while finishing with three birdies.
Tanner Copeland tied for 53rd place after shooting a 13-over par in the tournament. Copeland had a superior first round, birding five holes and finishing the day 6-over par. Copeland had round scores of 78 and 79 and had 18 total pars and six total birdies. Cole Streck finished just a few spots behind Krob, finishing in 61st place. Streck also had six birdies, three coming in each round. Streck shot rounds of 78 and 80, finishing 14-over par.
Three players tied for the victory, two athletes coming from Minnesota State Mankato and the other at Missouri Western State. Marius Dosiere of Missouri Western State went 5-under par in the second round to come back for a taste of victory. Winona State University clinched the team title after two of their five players finished in the top 10. They finished at 6-over par as a team.
The team will look forward to The Showdown at Shangri-La in Monkey Island, Okla. This event is scheduled for next Monday (April 1) and will play until Tuesday (April 2).
