The Criminal Justice Program at FHSU announces its sixth annual Criminal Justice Career Fair, an event designed to connect students with professionals in law enforcement, courts, corrections, probation and parole, community crime prevention, mental health, non-profit agencies, and related disciplines. The career fair will be Wed. March 6, at the FHSU Memorial Union.
Organizations are encouraged to participate as they seek to recruit talent from criminal justice and related majors. The event is not limited to FHSU students; students from other colleges in central and Western Kansas are invited to attend.
Event highlights:
Date and time: Wed., March 6
Location: Fort Hays State Memorial Union
Career fair: 9 a.m.-12 Noon
Mock interviews: 1-3 p.m.
Participating agencies can showcase educational and employment opportunities, allowing students to explore career paths within the field of criminal justice. Faculty representatives will be on hand to discuss FHSU’s undergraduate and graduate programs for those interested in transferring or pursuing advanced education. In some instances, participants will have the opportunity to begin job application processes with attending agencies.
“We believe this event will provide an excellent opportunity for students and visitors to discover a wide range of careers within the field of criminal justice,” said Dr. Tamara Lynn, associate professor and chair of criminal justice. “We are excited to meet with many organizations, highlighting their information and inspiring future criminal justice professionals.”
There is no cost for agencies to attend. As a gesture of appreciation, a hospitality room will be provided, featuring a continental breakfast and lunch between the morning and afternoon sessions. Additionally, the program will advertise job opportunities with attending agencies to FHSU students.
Agencies are encouraged to send in their reservation forms early to secure a spot at the career fair. The location (Fort Hays Ballroom or Black & Gold Room) will be finalized based on the number of registration forms received. Forms can be returned via mail or scanned documents via email. Deadline for submission is Feb. 16.
Agencies can request a registration form by contacting the Criminal Justice Program at 785-628-5668.
