Fort Hays State women’s tennis head coach Brian Flax has announced the signing of Janae Montoya, a four-time state qualifier from Salina Central High School in Salina, Kan.
A two-time regional champion and three-time state placer, Montoya completed her high-school career with an overall record of 123-24. She finished as high as third individually at the KSHSAA Class 5A State Championships in 2022, capping off a 31-2 junior season, also placing fifth as a sophomore and seventh as a senior. She helped the Mustangs to runner-up finishes as a team in 2021 and again in 2023, while Salina Central finished third as a team in 2022.
Montoya is also a world-class twirler, winning a world championship in 2023 in England to go with multiple national twirling titles. She also excels in the classroom, sitting atop her class in GPA.
