Just two miles south of Hays is a family-owned pumpkin patch by the name, “Pa’s Pumpkin Patch.” Jeff Coppers owns this pumpkin patch.
Coppers has run this patch for the last 10 years. He had this to say about creating this business.
“I like starting business and I had the ground and facility to do it so, my daughter and I did it,” he said.
Although the patch has been around for 10 years, every year they add something new to keep it fun. This year they decided to get a train for rides around the patch. Next year they will try to get a slide.
The business is affordable for all families, with the wristbands being just $5. This covers the hayrack ride, corn maze and jumping pillow all located on the property. There are also alpacas in the barn that the kids can go see. The pumpkins are priced at 50 cents per pound.
Pa’s also has employees that work around the patch, keeping up the facility, and behind the counter preparing drinks and snacks for sale!
One of these employees, Bre Park, has worked at Pa’s for the past four years.
“I love seeing all the kids have fun and being outdoors. It’s affordable. We have gotten more activities; this year we got a train,” Park said.
Pa’s Pumpkin Patch is open on Saturdays from 9-7 and Sunday from 11-6. They close the last weekend of October.
