The Fort Hays State women’s soccer tied with No. 15 Augustana on Sunday (Sept. 10) by a score of 0-0. The tie brings Fort Hays State’s record to 3-0-1, while the Vikings record moves to 2-1-1. The Tigers were able to outshoot their opponent 11-5 throughout the match, but neither team was able to net a goal.
Sullivan Kelly and Montserrat Diaz each recorded three shots in the match, both firing one on goal a piece. Hannah Mares was also able to shoot her lone shot on goal. Goalkeeper Jillian Barkus for Augustana finished the match with three saves.
The Fort Hays State Tiger defense allowed just five shots from the Viking offense, three on goal. Augustana was limited all match long, shooting three shots in the first period and two in the second period. The Tigers won the time of possession battle possessing the ball 57% of the match, while the Vikings had possession of the ball for 43% of the match. Fort Hays State also recorded nine more corner kicks than Augustana throughout the 90 minutes of play
Fort Hays State will host two more home matches next weekend against conference opponents. The Tigers will first welcome the Lopers of Nebraska-Kearney on Friday (Sept. 15) at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Emporia State on Sunday (Sept. 17.)
