KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State’s Hannah Mares was named the MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week for women’s soccer after an impressive first week of the season. Mares has served to be the offensive leader for the Tigers throughout their 2-0 start to the year.
Just nearly three minutes into the opening game of the season Mares captured her first goal against Northwestern Oklahoma State. Two days later Mares rattled off three goals in the 4-0 shutout victory over Southwestern College to record just the third hat trick in program history. The scores also notched her in tie for the most goals scored in a single match by a Tiger. The senior from Castle Rock, Colorado led the team in goals scored a season ago with eight, and currently leads this year’s squad with four.
