Irina Alfonso goes to serve during the No. one doubles matchup against the Central Oklahoma team as her teammates cheer them on. The Lady Tigers doubles team of Paz Diaz and Alfonso put up a fight, but ultimately fell 7-5. At No. five singles Kylie Aufdengarten winds up her serve. Stefany Stemmer represented the Tigers at No. two singles, where she also played a nationally ranked player. Stemmer with a speedy swing. She pulled through with wins in seven out of 19 games against the No. 50 singles Alfonso was put in another close matchup in No. 1 singles play. The game went into a tie breaker where she was overrun 10-8. Fiorella Mendez swings at a high-placed ball during her No. 3 singles play. Mendez had 10 wins between both sets, where she barely lost with a score of 7-5. Aufdengarten makes contact with the ball. Placing the ball back in her opponent’s half of the court, Aufdengarten fell with scores of 6-1 and 6-3. At No. four singles, Paz Diaz falls 6-1 in both sets. Grace Unruh brings in the only Tiger win of the day. At No. six singles, Unruh took the first set with a score of 6-2. The second set brought a loss of the same score. Faced with a tiebreaker set, Unruh got a six-point lead, where she won with a final score of 10-4. The Fort Hays Tennis team sits with a record of 6-10 overall, with an MIAA Conference record of 0-6.
