Brasser named golfer of week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Morgan Brasser of Fort Hays State was named the MIAA Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week on Wednesday (Mar. 8). She tied the lowest score ever shot in FHSU Women’s Golf history (69) in her second round, matching a record set by Shelby White, and finished fourth individually at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational in Oklahoma City.

Brasser shot rounds of 75 (+4) and 69 (-2) to finish at 2-over par overall. Brasser had a seven-hole stretch that included five birdies during the second round and she carded seven birdies overall for the tournament. She tied two and topped three individuals in the Golfstat Division II rankings of the seven total individuals with rankings in the field. Brasser now has five top 10 finishes this season in the seven tournaments played by FHSU. The tournament consisted of 96 players.

For Brasser, it was her third career sub-par round in competition and second of the 2022-23 season. She has now been named the MIAA Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week three times throughout the season, twice in the fall and now after her first tournament of the spring.
