Trio of wrestlers earns All-MIAA honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State had three wrestlers named to the All-MIAA Wrestling Team, released by the conference office on Tuesday (March 7). The Tigers had two first team selections and a co-second team selection.

Third-ranked Tereus Henry (197 pounds) earned first-team honors by going 4-0 in MIAA duals this season. Henry outscored MIAA opponents 34-7 in conference duals claiming one win via technical fall and a pair of decisions. The redshirt sophomore finished the regular season 34-3 and punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships by winning the regional title at the Super Region VI Championships in Chadron, Neb. The El Paso, Texas native led the team in total wins as well as wins by tech fall (7) and major decision (8).

Jacob Mitchell (141 pounds) also earned first team honors for posting a perfect record in conference duals. The former NJCAA national champion picked up one win via fall and one via decision in his three appearances. The Manhattan, Kan. native finished the season 6-12 overall tallying one win by fall, one by major decision, and two by decision.

Fourth-ranked Cade Lindsey (174 pounds) was named a co-second team selection with fifth-ranked Anthony DesVigne of Central Oklahoma. Lindsey finished the MIAA dual schedule with a 2-1 record picking up wins by major decision and decision with his only loss coming to No. 3 Austin Eldredge of Nebraska-Kearney in a narrow 5-4 decision. Lindsey posted a 33-6 overall record this season and led the team with 14 wins by decision. The Derby, Kan. native will join Henry in Cedar Rapids, Iowa this weekend for the NCAA Championships after reaching the regional championship in Chadron.
