HALO hosts Tamalefest

A group of students gathered with the materials to construct a tamale. Each plate holds corn leaves, beef, and masa.
Here, we see señora filling a corn husk above a bowl of masa– flour made of ground up corn bits. Featuring her apron from the baking competition held by ResLife this previous Spring!
These girls switch it up a bit, filling their tamales with shredded chicken.
Not only getting the chance to learn and eat food at this event, but participants also got to take a moment to share with friends, socialize, and relax.
What better way to spend one’s Saturday afternoon? Keeping their hunger at bay, these students carefully fill their corn husks before bringing them to be put in a large pot to steam.

As the purpose of this event is to share the joy of Hispanic culture, these two friends help each other out as they finish off the supplies.

The participants of this event gathered together in front of the event flier before taking off with their delicious treats. There were plenty of tamales to spare.
The event and collaboration with organizers yielded a large amount of tamales.
