The FHSU Esports club will be hosting the TigerLan event on Saturday. The event is a large gathering where people can bring their own consoles and play various video games. There will also be professional tournaments taking place, including Minecraft Hardcore and Smash Bros.

“It provides a fun activity on campus and for the community,” Esports supervisor Kevin Shaffer said. “It also allows people to meet others who play the same games they play.”

With the previous TigerLan events in mind, Shaffer has high hopes for the amount of people who will attend.

“There will be 50-100 people there,” Schaffer said.

TigerLAN is something of a tradition for the Esports club, going as far back as 2000. Esports president Ben White expresses pride in how far it has come.

“It represents the culmination of Esports as a whole,” White said. “You have everybody coming together to make something everyone can enjoy.”

TigerLAN will take place in the ballroom in the Memorial Union with doors opening at 11:00 a.m. For a $5 entrance fee, students and community members can enjoy a night of gaming and have a chance to earn a prize in various tournaments.
