Gateway Gallery: Getting to know Oceanside, CA

Oceanside Pier – Residents and tourists enjoy a sunny evening at the Oceanside Pier. The pier has been around since 1888, undergoing several renovations to be the 1,942-foot-long landmark it is today.
Sleeping on the beach – A homeless person finds comfort in the warm sands of the beach in Oceanside.
Surfing – After waiting it out, this surfer finally saw a wave he could take on.
The Coast Highway – The Pacific Coast Highway, also known as California U.S. Route 101, stretches for 790 miles through the state. The Oceanside segment features beautiful storefronts, delicious burger joints, and a look into history.
Barbershop Boys – Two barbers waiting in the sunshine for their next customer. Being so close to a military base is essentially a barber’s dream, which is likely why each block has its own barber shop.
Sunshine Brooks Theatre – First opened in 1936, the Brooks Theater now hosts live music, plays, and other events.
Handel’s Ice Cream – Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream and Yogurt has customers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The franchise was first founded in Ohio in 1945 and now has over 90 different locations.
Mural – kye Walker’s ‘Beauty of the Sea’ mural adds more color to the street and to the city. Walker spray paints Mother Earth-inspired murals all over Southern California.
The Star Theatre – The Star Theatre was built in 1956, its big debut being ‘Moby Dick.’ It still hosts live plays throughout the year, with six big plays in the plan for 2023.
Crowded Sidewalks – A crowd of people heads toward the saloon restaurant down the street. Crowded sidewalks are a popular trend on the Coast Hwy. Everyone wants a taste of the history, and the food.
