From indoor volleyball leagues to Disc Golf, Tiger Snack Times, Sidewalk Chalk Contests, and Catfish & Carp Derbies, the Fort Hays State University Intramural Program hosts a diverse array of activities around campus for students to take a break and participate in.

Director of Campus Intramural and Recreational sports Ron Haag was able to give a little bit of insight into what the Intramural program is all about as well as how this massive assortment of events is made possible.

“Campus Intramurals strives to provide a broad and competitive variety of physical and social activities designed to meet the diverse needs and interests of all the FHSU students,” Haag said. “The program offers equal opportunity for participation for all regardless of their ability or skills and interests. Intramurals strives to provide something for all FHSU students.”

He then went on to praise the Intramurals Staff for making these events happen and for all of the hard work that they put in on a daily basis.

“We have an outstanding student staff that strives to provide a great service for our campus. Our students love what they do and work hard for our program and all of FHSU,” he said. “Bottom line is that we love our program and the FHSU students.”

Haag was also able to touch on how thankful he is for the support behind the scenes.

“Fort Hays Administration and Student Government have been and continue to be supportive of us and our continued success,” he said. “We cannot thank them enough.”

In a quick wrap-up, Haag talks about the importance of a program like Intramurals and how it is directly beneficial to students.

“All students come to FHSU to get a degree, but many find success in and out of the classroom because of programs like Intramurals. Many students stay in school and find continued success in the classroom because they find a home and a place to relieve stress while making new friends,” Haag said. “Many life lessons are learned through participation in Campus Intramural and recreational sports.”

Throughout the year, Intramurals offers over 200 activities. Here’s your chance to compete in something you love or to find something new that interests you!
