National Transfer Student Week recognized at FHSU

BY KOBY BURDETT

National Student Transfer week is celebrated annually throughout higher education during the third week of October. The focus of the week is to celebrate transfer students and the professionals who made the process easy and successful for them.

Fort Hays State University is joining in the week-long celebration by working to inform both current and prospective students about their seamless transfer options and highlight the professionals at FHSU that make the transition easy.

Transfer students make up about 40% of all new students this Fall 2022 semester, so the campus is teeming with Tiger transferees. This number does not even include previously enrolled students continuing their education at FHSU.

There are many resources available to potential transfer students who don’t know where to start their transfer journey to becoming a Tiger. FHSU offers free transcript evaluation for prospective students to see where they stand in their degree program.

Fort Hays State University attracts transfer students from all over the state and country by offering some of the lowest tuition rates in the country, as well as offering transfer and online scholarships which can be viewed here

In-state, community college students have the opportunity to sign up for Transfer Connect to help streamline the jump from two-year to four-year education. For more information on transfer, scholarships contact Assistant Director of Admissions, Hugo Perez at h_perez@fhsu.edu

Some students may be interested in transferring to Fort Hays State University’s online program, and for the first time, there are Online Student Scholarships awarded every semester. Contact Online Recruitment Specialist, Holly Rebel, or check out the Online Student Scholarships here.

Transfer students currently enrolled have the chance to spotlight those who have made their transfer experience go smoothly. FHSU is looking for Transfer Champions, nominated by transfer students, who made a positive impact on their experience. Follow this link to nominate a Champion.

Jacob Shope, an in-state community college transfer who is in his first semester at Fort Hays State University had this to say about his transfer experience.

“I found the transfer experience to FHSU very easy. I found the information I needed on the school website and everyone I had questions for was very helpful,” Shope said.
