Tying history with art, a photo of the FHSU Black Student Union in the Homecoming parade of 1998 resides in the Hays Arts Council building. Art displayed at the art walk touched by shadow and sun. The Creative Arts Society members Megan Lierz, Maria Niale, Cale Jackson, and Juana Estrada Hernandez enjoyed the shade near the Pavilion as they sold shirt prints to raise money for their club.The Orchestra performs in the Downtown Pavilion under the direction of Dr. Brian Buckstead. Beside the violin section, KAMS student Laurinda Lan strums on the Cello as the Orchestra plays “Yankee Doodle”. The brass section rocks some shades as they carry the harmony and bass of the band. Deep in focus, Professor Douglas Drabkin, who teaches Philosophy, fiddles his violin as he contributes to the Art Walk performance on Main Street. A fellow photographer, Amy Allen displays her work as she stands next to her first inspiration into the continuation of photography; a picture of the dock taken on her old Nokia phone. Isak Smith, current TMN employee and KAMS student, gathers ideas for what to draw on the rock in his hand as he marvels at the art around the Niche shop on Main Street. Holding up a rock, labeled “rock”, Gideon Foxdisplays his newest piece of art in hopes of contributing to the art gallery in Niche! KAMS students Hazel Frans, Isak Smith, Gideon Fox, and Emma Cohn stop to paint rocks in Niche as they make their way through the Hays Downtown Art Walk. Breathe coffee shop displays pieces by “suwon_america” through miniature prints of the screenshot of the artist’s instagram feed. Further adding to the calm aesthetic of the cafe.
