By FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State pole vaulter Ryan Stanley was named the MIAA Men’s Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 1). Stanley won the men’s pole vault at the Charlie Foster Classic in Kearney, Nebraska this past weekend.

Stanley cleared 16 feet, 6 inches on his first attempt. The rest of the field was out of the competition before Stanley even attempted his first jump. He is currently ranked first on the NCAA DII performance chart with a season-best clearance of 17-0.75, while this week’s effort would have been fourth best on the national performance list.

Stanley was NCAA Division II outdoor national champion in the pole vault last year and finished fourth nationally during the indoor season.
