Students who earned a degree by taking classes through FHSU Online are invited to two new events during this year’s commencement weekend.
From 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Memorial Union Ballroom, FHSU Online will host a commencement reception. That also will include a faculty and staff meet-and-greet from 1 to 2 p.m.
Light refreshments will be provided.
From 1 to 2 p.m. Dec. 18, FHSU Online will host a commencement reception via Zoom. A faculty and staff meet-and-greet will follow a guest speaker.
Participants are asked to RSVP here by Dec. 10 for either event. Students interested in meeting a faculty or staff member may make their request within the RSVP form.
FHSU Online will also host a virtual photo booth during the weekend, with more information to come.
Kayla Hickel, interim director of FHSU Online, said the events are intended to show online students they are an important part of the university. It’s also a way to celebrate the students who have displayed the hard work and determination needed to earn a degree.
“Due to the pandemic, we were unable to host a celebration last year,” Hickel said. “FHSU Online is eager to invite online students from all over the world to walk at commencement and join us in celebrating their accomplishments.”
In-person commencement ceremonies for FHSU graduates will be at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 17 in Gross Memorial Coliseum, beginning with students from the Robbins College of Business and Entrepreneurship, the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences and the Werth College of Science, Technology and Mathematics. At 11 a.m., graduates of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Education will cross the stage.
Virtual commencement ceremonies for graduate-level degree-seekers will be at 8 a.m. Dec. 18, followed by the undergraduate ceremony at 10 a.m.
FHSU Online students are invited to participate in the in-person ceremonies for their respective colleges.
