KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Fort Hays State volleyball team had eight student-athletes recognized on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, released Tuesday (Nov. 30) by the conference office.
Three Tigers received additional honors, including sophomore Riley Tinder earning both the Scholar-Athlete Award and the MIAA Academic Excellence Award. She was one of nine athletes in the conference to earn both distinguished awards.
Morgan Christiansen also received the Scholar-Athlete Award, while Emily Ellis also earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award. A total of 33 athletes in the conference picked up the Scholar-Athlete Award, while just 15 earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award.
Others listed on the Academic Honor Roll include Jaden Daffer, Mykah Eshbaugh, Elysia Glowacz, Morgan McIntire and Isabelle Reynolds.
An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 4.00 or better at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors during the current season.
To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
First-year student-athletes, including transfers and true freshmen, will be recognized at the conclusion of the school year when they meet the two terms of attendance requirement.
