Trio lands on all-MIAA soccer team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State landed three players on the 2021 All-MIAA Women’s Soccer Team, released on Thursday (Nov. 4). Emily Hutchings received second-team honors, while Reilly Madden and Deonna Wellbrock each garnered third-team honors. The all-conference team is selected by head coaches from the MIAA.

Hutchings earned a second-team selection as a midfielder. She has a team-leading five assists for the season, which ranks eighth in the MIAA. She also has two goals to her credit and is tied for second on the team in points generated for the season with nine. She provided the game-winning goal in the 2-0 win over Washburn last week, which helped the Tigers clinch a spot in the MIAA Tournament.

Madden received a third-team selection at defender. She has been a model of endurance for the Tigers on the back row this season, playing every minute of 16 out of 18 contests. She has 1,647 minutes logged this season of a possible 1,694. She has helped the Tigers produce eight shutouts as a team this season and also has a pair of assists to her credit as well.

Wellbrock received a third-team selection at goalkeeper. She has seven individual shutouts to lead the MIAA this season, playing 1,576 minutes in goal for the Tigers. She has put together a record of 7-7-3 and has allowed just 14 goals this season, holding a 0.80 goals against average which is best in the MIAA. Wellbrock also tops the MIAA in save percentage, currently at .849 for the season.
