KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Women’s Soccer will be the No. 8 seed in the MIAA Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament with quarterfinal games beginning next Sunday (Nov. 7). The Tigers will take on MIAA regular season champion Central Missouri, the No. 1 seed, in Warrensburg at 1 pm.
FHSU extended its streak of qualifying for the MIAA Tournament to seven-straight years with a 2-0 win over Washburn on Sunday (Oct. 31) in Hays. The Tigers have qualified for the tournament all four years under head coach Blake Reynolds‘ guidance. Fort Hays State finished the regular season with a record of 8-7-3 and have eight shutouts this season.
Fort Hays State will look for more post-season magic in Warrensburg, a location where they have won two MIAA Tournament matches. Both of those wins were during the 2012 season, when the Tigers went on a run through the MIAA Tournament as the No. 6 seed. The Tigers won the semifinals and finals in Warrensburg that year to earn the automatic bid into the NCAA Championship Tournament.
The Tigers will look to avenge a 4-2 loss to the Jennies earlier this season in Warrensburg. With a 9-1-1 mark in conference play this season, Central Missouri won its second straight MIAA regular season title after claiming the 2019 title with a 10-0-1 mark.
