BY CASANDRA GIBSON

Homecoming 2021 had all the sights: cheerleaders getting ready to hype up the crowd. football players getting ready to bring home the win for homecoming, pep band students getting their instruments ready, and tailgaters enjoying a beautiful Saturday afternoon prior to kickoff.

There were a lot of people that were tailgating, and many were excited for the game.

There were a few people that got interviewed and those people are Cancer Milburn, Alexandra Hart, and Cassie Kerckhobe.

Tailgate attendee Cancer Milburn enjoyed being able to tailgate again after time off.

“The tailgate was more fun than last year was and it’s an amazing experience,” Milburn said.

When asked about her favorite tailgate tradition, Milburn really didn’t have one, but she did say “I think it’s awesome seeing the people out here supporting the football game.”

Fellow attendee Alexandra Hart said that she enjoys tailgating food and the atmosphere.

“I also love the fact that this many people came out to help support our Tigers,” Hart said.

Hart was the first champion in the high jump during her freshman year for the NCAA

When asked if she was excited for the game, Cassie Kerckhobe said “It should be a really game because Nebraska is 4-0 and Fort Hays is 2-2 but some of the teams that they’ve played and that we’ve played have been pretty close games so it should be really good game.”

Kerckhobe also said that Fort Hays has been a great experience and she loves the school spirit and just the energy that the students bring to the games. Kerckhobe is a part of the band, and she was extremely excited to cheer on Fort Hays Tigers.
