BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Fort Hays State women’s golf team opened the 2021-22 season with the Central Region Fall Preview this week (Sept. 7-8) at Adams Pointe Golf Club. The Tigers placed 12th in the 19-team field after also sitting in 12th at the conclusion of day one.
The Tigers posted team scores of 318 on Tuesday and 328 on Wednesday. Sophomore Morgan Brasser paced the Tigers with a two-round total of 11-over 155, placing 23rd, with freshman Shauna Lee close behind in 29th at 13-over 157.
Brasser posted a 6-over 78 in the opening round and followed that up with a 5-over 77 on day two. She ranked fifth in the field with 25 pars across the 36 holes.
Lee opened her collegiate career with a team-best 4-over 76 on Tuesday, highlighted by three birdies over her first nine holes. She completed the week with a 9-over 81 on Wednesday.
Kira Mestl led the team and tied for eighth in the field with five birdies in the tournament, including three in the first round and two in the second round. The senior recorded rounds of 80 and 86 to finish in a tie for 69th at 22-over 166.
Kerrigan Rudolph improved two strokes from round one to round two, firing rounds of 86 and 84 to place 79th at 26-over 170. Freshman Lexie Ridder made her Tiger debut with a round of 84 on Tuesday before finishing the week with a 92, placing 89th at 32-over 176.
Henderson State took the team title at 19-over 595 thanks to individual champ Gracen Blount’s two-round total of 3-under 141.
The Tigers will return to the course next week (Sept. 13-14) when they head to Thornton, Colo. for The Swan Memorial, hosted by Colorado Christian University.
