INF349 students Haomiao Lu and Ricardo Lujan attended the back-to-school picnic on Monday and have reports on how the annual event transpired.
On Monday, the Quad on the FHSU campus was filled even with the near triple-digit temperatures. Many organizations across Hays welcomed returning FHSU students at the 2021 Back to School Picnic.
The purpose of the event was to encourage students to connect with the several organizations available on campus. It was also one of the first mass events to be held on campus in nearly a year.
“It’s great, we were missing it,” an FHSU student said at the event. “We didn’t get to do a whole lot last year or the semester before.”
The picnic is a tradition at Fort Hays State and signifies the beginning of a new school year. Student Engagement organized the festivities which saw over 130 tables ranging from Greek Life to ESports.
There was also representation from FHSU organizations such as Forsyth Library, Sternberg Museum, and the Honors College.
Planning for next year’s picnic is already underway and is scheduled for August 22, 2022. Registration guidelines for organizations and businesses are available on the FHSU website.
