TOPEKA, Kan. – Fort Hays State Women’s Soccer improved to 2-2 in spring divisional play on Thursday evening (Apr. 15) with a comeback 2-1 win in overtime at Washburn. The Tigers are now 4-3-1 overall this spring, while Washburn moved to 3-5-1 overall and 1-3 in divisional play.

All of the scoring occurred after halftime. Washburn took a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute on a corner kick that dropped over the Tiger defense and found Mattie Miano’s foot at the back post. Macy Decker responded about 15 minutes later with a crafty corner kick of her own. Her right footed strike bent perfectly into the upper corner of the near post, just out of the Washburn keeper’s reach to level the match at 1-1.

In overtime, the Tigers created a scramble in front of the net off a throw in. After the ball ricocheted around a bit in the box, it found the foot of Reilly Madden poised to fire home the golden goal. Madden’s strike snapped FHSU’s two-match skid and the Tigers remained unbeaten in overtime games so far this spring, now 1-0-1 in extra time.

The Tigers will wrap up divisional play on Sunday (Apr. 18) in a home match against Northwest Missouri State, starting at 12 pm.
