Women’s golf opens season in Texas

CARROLLTON, Texas – The Fort Hays State women’s golf team opened its season this week at the UCM Southern Invitational at Indian Creek Golf Club (Feb. 7-8). The scheduled third and final round of the event was canceled on Tuesday due to weather.

The par-72 course measured at 5,893 yards for the event. With three individuals competing, Fort Hays State did not post a team score.

Morgan Brasser led the team in her first collegiate competition, posting scores of 79 and 86 to finish in a tie for 25th. The freshman was in ninth place after the opening round. She totaled three birdies on the week, 11th-most in the field.

Kira Mestl placed 42nd after an opening round 87 and a second round score of 89. Kerrigan Rudolph finished 48th after shooting 96 in the first round and 91 in the second round.

The Tigers are next scheduled to compete at the NSU Women’s Classic February 22-23 in Broken Arrow, Okla.
