Tonight at 5 p.m. the fourth annual KFHS 24 hour Radio Show begins, bringing music for one solid planetary rotation. The event promotes both KFHS and the Tiger Media Network by encouraging students to tune in to a large show comprised of all the radio DJ’s who contribute to KFHS broadcasting.
This is the first year to feature two live rock bands, both from Wichita; Victims of the Spotlight will perform Friday and The Folded Plains on Saturday. At midnight Friday, in front of the Center for Media Studies, DJ’s K10 and Oz will be mixing, mashing, and laying down beats of all kinds for audience enjoyment.
Local sponsors have also participated, providing gifts and prizes that will be up for grabs, available for anyone that tunes in. There are two available avenues to listen, download the Tunein app and search for KFHS or go to the tmn website.
You don’t have to be an INT or Media Studies major to have your own radio show next semester! Current DJs are more than able to answer any questions you might have about hosting a radio show or working for Tiger Media Network.
In previous years, activities included hauling in a junkyard car to let students release some end of the year stress by allowing participants to smash it with sledge hammers and spray paint it to their heart’s content.
Ken “K10” Moreno, afro extraordinaire and fresh beat connoisseur encourages everyone to listen. ”A lot of the students want to pursue broadcasting as a career and are very passionate about providing quality entertainment for Fort Hays State University’s students to enjoy. We want students to have fun with us.”
