Fort Hays State head wrestling coach Erik Wince announced the signing of a pair of incoming Tigers on Thursday (Nov. 12). Blayze Standley and Devon Weber will join the Tiger wrestling team as freshmen in the fall of 2021.
“We are extremely excited to have these two hammers locked in during the early signing period,” said Wince. “These guys will come in and have an immediate impact on our program. They believe in the Tiger Wrestling philosophy and share the same goals as our current team members of building this program into a national title contender year in and year out.”

Blayze Standley will join the Tiger roster after an impressive run at Columbus
High School in Columbus, Neb. Standley is a three-time state qualifier, finishing
as the runner-up at 170 pounds in the Nebraska Class A State Championships as a
junior after a fourth-place finish at 170 pounds as a sophomore. He is a
two-time district champion in addition to winning a conference championship as
a junior. Blayze helped the Discoverers to a runner-up team finish in 2019.
Standley enters his senior year with a career record of 112-31, including 64
wins via pin. He posted a record of 22-12 as a freshman, 42-15 as a sophomore
and 48-4 as a junior. He was selected to wrestle on the Folkstyle national dual
team in 2019. Standley won the Freestyle state championship in 2018 and was
runner-up in 2019 in addition to a pair of runner-up finishes in the Greco
state championships. He was the Southern Plains Freestyle and Greco champion in
2019 and has been a Fargo Freestyle and Greco Qualifier in both 2018 and 2019.
In addition to four wrestling letters, Standley also earned two letters with
the football team at Columbus. He was an Academic All-State selection in 2020.

Devon Weber has signed with the Tigers as one of the top wrestlers in the state
of Kansas. Weber is a back-to-back State Champion, turning in a record of 79-1
over the last two seasons. He’s qualified for the state championships each of
the last three years, qualifying at 106 pounds as a freshman before taking home
the title at 106 pounds as a sophomore and 113 pounds as a junior.
A two-time regional champion, Weber enters his senior season with an overall
record of 110-17, including marks of 31-16 as a freshman, 41-0 as a sophomore
and 38-1 as a junior.
He has been named a Best of
Kansas Preps Elite All-Star each of the last two years. His 41-0
record as a sophomore in 2018-19 is the best record in Pratt High School
history. In addition to four years of wrestling, he has earned two letters on
the Pratt baseball team and three letters playing football.
