On Thursday morning, the Fort Hays State University Foundation partnered with student chairs,
Haley Reiter, student body president, and Bryson Homman, student body vice president, to kick off the foundation’s Campus Campaign with a Cinnamon Roll Drive-Thru for the staff and faculty at FHSU.
The drive lasted from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the Gross Memorial Coliseum Parking Lot. Throughout the morning, around 250 Fort Hays State faculty members took part in the event by simply taking a cinnamon roll as a gift of appreciation.
The Cinnamon Roll Drive was the first event for this year’s Campus Campaign. The campaign runs throughout an entire fiscal year, ending June 30, 2021.
In a regular year, the kick-off event would be a luncheon with the FHSU Foundation and FHSU staff, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, normally scheduled events have been altered to practice social distancing.
Another alteration to this year’s campaign is the use of student chairmen. As a result of positive partnerships in the past, Reiter and Homman will act as representatives of the student body during the entire Campus Campaign.
The Campus Campaign acts as an encouragement to staff and faculty to donate to the foundation to help benefit the students of Fort Hays.
“Donations to the FHSU Foundation can go towards anything at Fort Hays State University– scholarships, athletics, department funding and so much more.” Jason Williby, CEO of the FHSU Foundation said.
The FHSU Foundation is the fundraising arm of the university, and will continue to host multiple events throughout the year to encourage the previous and current staff of Fort Hays State University to continue their donations so the students of the university can continue to strive for excellence.
