Quarantine can be a very long period of time if you can’t find something to do. Whether you’re in isolation because you have become sick, or if you have to stay home because you are trying to be careful, there are multiple opportunities you can take to try and keep yourself busy.
FHSU Junior Edgar Garcia spent his time working out while staying socially distant. So far his quarantine journey has led him to lose 52 pounds.
“I would like to keep my momentum going, and keep my healthy habits in check coming out of quarantine,” he said.
Some people are exploring new hobbies and dipping their feet into previously unknown territory. Jesus Rodriguez, a freshman, began playing baseball with some people from his own town.
Jesus had never played before, and quickly picked up the basics of the game and joined a traveling team. While their season was different due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he still was able to play a few tournaments and find a new love for America’s favorite pastime.
“It was cool to experience baseball finally,” Rodriguez said, “I played multiple different sports growing up but baseball has a unique team dynamic I’m glad I go to experience.”
Spending isolation with close friends can also help pass the time. This is the case for a couple of juniors isolating off-campus.
“We mostly just play a lot of [Call of Duty] Warzone, and caught up on a bunch of things that need done around the house,” said Carter Blackburn, one of the students in isolation.
Casie Roberts and her roommate Blaque Brin, recently returned to campus after being isolated and shared their thoughts about isolating together.
“It made the whole thing easier,” Roberts said, “being by myself for a week didn’t really sound fun, and we were able to do a lot more assignments and stay on top of things.
