The Ellis County Health Department released information Thursday that the county saw its first case of the coronavirus in a local patient.
Last week, the county had reported a positive case in a patient at the local hospital, but the patient was from outside the county. Those cases are recorded in the county the person resides in.
In Thursday’s release, the health department said the patient — a 30-year-old male — is in home isolation and following proper guidance of the county health department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The positive test result was identified by a private lab and will be verified by the CDC.
