Tennis sweeps Tabor

HILLSBORO, Kan. – The Fort Hays State tennis team picked up its fourth-straight sweep and sixth-consecutive win overall Thursday (March 12) at Tabor College, defeating the Bluejays 7-0. The Tigers move to 7-2 overall with the win, while Tabor is now 1-7 on the year.

Natalie Lubbers and Ellea Ediger held on for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while the other two doubles teams made quick work of their opponents. Macy Moyers and Lauren Lindell picked up a quick 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles, while Sydney McAdoo and Grace Holgerson teamed up for another 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Three Tigers did not drop a game in singles action, with Lindell winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, Ediger winning 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 position and Kimberly Stone picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

Lubbers had little trouble at No. 1 singles, winning comfortably, 6-2, 6-1. Macy Moyers picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles with McAdoo finishing things off with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 5 position.

Due to the cancellation of NCAA Winter and Spring Championships based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, the MIAA and its member institutions announced the suspension of all MIAA intercollegiate sports activities (practice and competition) indefinitely effective at 11 pm, March 12, 2020. The indefinite suspension applies to all institutional practices and competitions in any MIAA sport, regardless of season, until further notice. All spring sports are suspended indefinitely at this time.
