Women’s track seventh at MIAA meet

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Fort Hays State women’s track and field team tallied two provisional performances and two program records on day three at the MIAA Indoor Championships Sunday (March 1). The Tigers earned a seventh-place finish in the team competition, racking up 28.5 points through the weekend.

Emily Salmans broke her own school record in the 800m run, this time crossing the line in 2:14.60 to place fifth in the race.

After qualifying for Sunday’s finals in the 60m dash, Lyric Holman placed eighth in the event with a time of 7.90. Peri Lange also earned a team point with an eighth-place finish in the 600 y run

Holman and Lange tied up with Lindsay Shupe and Layne Needham to run the fastest 4x400m relay in program history, adding another Division II provisional performance with a time of 3:15.39. The time gave the group a fourth-place finish in the race.

In the field events, Rohey Singhateh etched her name onto the provisional charts for the first time this season after a fifth-place finish in the triple jump 38-6.0
