KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After wrapping up the regular season 22-6 overall and 13-6 in MIAA play, the Fort Hays State women’s basketball team has earned the No. 5 seed in next weekend’s MIAA Women’s Basketball Championship.
As a result, the Tigers will take on No. 4 Pittsburg State in the MIAA quarterfinals on Friday, March 6 inside historic Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The Tigers and Gorillas will battle in the first game of the day, beginning at noon.
The Tigers finished the regular season in a three-way tie for fourth place in the MIAA standings with Pittsburg State and Missouri Western. Pittsburg State earned the fourth seed thanks to a 2-1 record against the Tigers and Griffons, while the Tigers were 1-1 in the group and MWSU was 1-2.
Fort Hays State defeated PSU in the only meeting this season, 75-74.
Due to its placement in the bracket, Fort Hays State would play in the first game each day for the duration of their stay in Kansas City. The Tigers would play in a noon semifinal on Saturday if they advance while Sunday’s championship game will tip off at 1 p.m.
A limited number of discounted all-tournament passes are available for just $50 through the Fort Hays State athletic office through Monday, March 2. Single session tickets are available for $20 for adults and $5 for students.
