By JAYCEE DALE

The Hays High School boys’ basketball team was able to put together another win Tuesday night in Hays, beating Abilene 56-46.

The first quarter started out with a tight game, with the Indians only leading by one going into the second quarter, 12-11.

The Indians began to stretch the lead a bit in the second period, eventually taking a 25-20 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Abilene coming out hot after the break, knotting the score at 29 with five minutes to go.

But HHS didn’t panic and never would let Abilene take a lead.

That allowed Hays High to lead 38-36 entering the final eight minutes of play.

The Indians dominated the final period, moving out to a 48-41 advantage with 3:18 remaining.

Hays High made the plays down the stretch to eventually win the 10-point contest.

Jace Linenberger led the Indians with 12 points, Jason Krannawitter followed with 11.

The Indians will host WAC foe Garden City on Friday night at the HHS gym.
