The Fort Hays State women’s basketball team is receiving votes in the latest edition of the WBCA Division II Coaches Poll, released Tuesday (Feb. 11). The Tigers earned 10 points in the balloting process this week, sitting fifth in the receiving votes category.
After a 1-1 week last week, the Tigers dipped out of the top 25 after being ranked in 29 consecutive polls, the longest stretch in program history. Fort Hays State had been ranked in every poll released since the 2018-19 preseason poll. The Tigers reached a high ranking of No. 3 and accumulated a 49-7 overall record during the run, including a 6-1 record against ranked opponents.
Two MIAA rivals sit just inside the coaches top 25 this week, with Thursday’s opponent Central Missouri sitting in 24th and Nebraska-Kearney coming in tied for 25th.
The Tigers will look to hand the Jennies their second-straight loss Thursday (Feb. 13) when the teams battle in Warrensburg, Mo. beginning at 5:30 p.m.
