The Tim Tebow Foundation was started in 2010 which lead to starting a mission to help those in the community. In 2014, Night to Shine was created to bring a prom night event for those people in the community with special needs. This event is hosted by 655 churches worldwide, honors over 100,000 guests, and has 200,000 volunteers.
This year, February 7, 2020, will be the third year Celebration Community Church in Hays will host Night to Shine. Macyn Decker, a sophomore at Fort Hays, is one of the coordinators for the Night to Shine event in Hays. She was first introduced to this opportunity last year through Tiger Pals.
“[Night To Shine is] a night that radiates joy, you leave with the biggest smile on your face and with an understanding that special needs community do so much for us than we do for them,” Decker said.
Another Tiger member, John Egan, who is the current president of Tiger Pals, explains Night to Shine as a great event for all who attend.
“[It is a] memorable event for the honored guest, an event that brings joy to very important people in our community,” Egan said. “It’s a very impactful experience whether you are a guest or volunteer.”
Volunteers from the Hays community, such as Fort Hays Student and locals, make unity a reality. Thank you for the continued support for the special needs community in Hays, they are truly inspiring to everyone.
The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
