Fort Hays State invites public to annual Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 3

BY UNIVERSITY RELATIONS

Carolers, crafts and, of course, Santa Claus will gather with Fort Hays State University President Tisa Mason to officially begin the holiday season at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, in and around Sheridan Hall on the FHSU campus.

The event is free, and the public is invited.

In addition to the university’s Dickens Carolers, the event will feature crafts, activities and games, a display of coloring contest pictures, horse drawn carriage rides and refreshments – hot chocolate, chili and cookies.

Santa will hand out gifts provided by Wendy’s Restaurants.

President Mason will award the prizes for the coloring contest winners.

Just before the activities begin, the audience will count down to the reason for the gathering – lighting up the university Christmas tree in front of Sheridan Hall.

The ceremony is sponsored by FHSU Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Office of the President, the Office of International Student Services, campus intramurals, FHSU Athletics, the University Activities Board, Student Engagement, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion Excellence, and Wendy’s Restaurants.
