On Wednesday, October 23 members of the Circle K International club gathered to paint pumpkins to donate to local nursing homes. Students had the opportunity to tune into their creative side and show off their artistic abilities while spreading the Halloween spirit to those around the city of Hays.
CKI strives to come up with projects that help and support others. Furthermore, the mission of Circle K International is to develop students into responsible citizens with a commitment to serve.
Many students felt that the pumpkin painting project was a great idea and fun way to share Halloween festivities with others.
“It was such a simple way to brighten people’s day and to help give people some festive decorations that they might not otherwise have,” Fort Hays State University student Kayleah Petree said.
The project was a fun way FHSU students could serve the community, while having fun with their creativity and participating in the fellowship CKI has to offer.
“I think projects like this benefit others because it allows them to become more involved in the community,” Petree said. “These things are important to do, because they help us to become more of a community and to get outside ourselves and serve others.”
Overall, the project proved to be a success for students, and the community. CKI plans to deliver the pumpkins to residents in nursing homes around Hays, in order to brighten the atmosphere.
